MANDALAS AND MEDITATION

MANDALAS

The circle of the mandala is the primal symbol for all that exists.
Its the symbol for the sun, the giver of light and the full moon, the disclosure of darkness.
Meditation is a practiced for calming the mind, from the daily grind of life we live today, it helps distress and takes us back to a state of oneness with our mind, body & spirit.  I also helps to get back in contact with our subconscious and therefore quieting down the ego which is not our true self.
When you quiet the mind you become aware of the world around you, the real world not the superficial one we are made to believe is real but the world where there is no fear, no judgements, there is only the truth and the now.

The mandala has been used in many spiritual traditions to aid meditation.  Because of its symbolic nature, when used is this way, the mandala can help the mind not only become focused and tranquil, but also to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the mediator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises.

How to meditate with mandalas:
1:      Find a quiet room where you wont be distirbed.
sit cross-legged on a firm cushion that raises your bottom a little way above the floor or sit in an upright chair with our feel flat on the floor.
2.     Place the mandala infront of you, it should be no bigger that a piece of A4 paper, at arms length.  straighten your back and rest your hand in you lap,f ingers laced together and palms uppermost.
3.   Rest your gaze on the mandala but relax your eyemuscles.  Let any thought pass you by and try not to get distracted.  Try not to analyze the mandala just look at it, steadly and evenly.

To begin with practive for 5 minutes each day until you feel comfortable but i would recommend no more that 20minutes as you still need to live in both worlds evenly.

Before you start you may like to say a prayer, for example:
"I ask the goddess and god to protect and guide me in this meditation"

NAMASTE "bow me to you"

The organ body clock

Lungs: 3am-5am
Large intestine: (or colon) 5am-7am
Stomach: 7am-9am
Spleen: 9am-11am
Heart: 11am-1pm
Small Intestines: 1pm-3pm
Bladder: 3pm-5pm
Kidneys: 5pm-7pm
Pancreas: 7pm-9pm
Blood Vessels and Arteries: 9pm-11pm
Gallbladder: 11pm -1am
Liver: 1am-3am

Lungs:
The lungs are the first organs of the day that are up for repair and maintenance. Lungs begins loosening the poisoning waste between 3 to 5 a.m., and when you awaken, this is why you cough sometimes. Your lungs are trying to expel the loosened waste. If you are coughing in the morning, this indicates that your diet and lifestyle needs tweaking.

Large Intestine or Colon:
5 to 7 a. m. is the time for this organ. A healthy colon needs water to do its job properly, which is flushing waste matter 24/7. The morning is the most important time to drink plenty of water for this process, and the worst time to have caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic and takes water away from your colon to your kidneys and bladder for evacuation. Your body needs water in the morning to do its repair and maintenance of the large intestine and colon. This helps you maintain digestion, normalize weight, slow down the ageing process. When you irrigate your system every morning with pure water (up to 32 oz.) your health improves. If you wait until you have a bowel movement before you eat in the morning, this is also healthier for your colon.

Stomach:
Between 7 and 9 a.m the stomach is repairing and does not need a big meal to deal with. While the large intestine and colon needs fluid to repair properly in the morning, the stomach needs very little. Start with fluids (pure water or fresh juiced vegetables) or fresh fruit that is easily digested. However, if you can, drink only fluids in the morning for optimal health.

Spleen:
From 9 to 11 a.m. the spleen gets cleaned. During this time/process or when the spleen is in a weakened state, you may suffer with allergies or not be able to shake a cold or flu. This is because the spleen works with the liver and your immune system. A healthy spleen produces antibodies when there is an infection and constantly watches the blood for invaders.

Heart:
The time for heart repairs is between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Your body is removing waste from the heart and you may sometimes notice a rapid heartbeat, double beats and/or skipping beats. Seventy percent of heart attacks occur when the heart is in its repair period.

Small Intestines:
Have you noticed that between 1 to 3 p.m. you are more apt to have indigestion, pain and bloating? If this happens, two things could be wrong: 1. Your diet is not what it should be and your food is not digesting; 2. Your diet is causing problems that are now causing you stress. A proper diet will help take care of these problems.

Kidneys and Bladder:
From 3 to 7 p.m. you may notice you’re tired and want a nap. When the kidneys are healthy and working properly, you’ll feel energetic at that time, not tired.

Pancreas:
Between 7 to 9 p.m. do you have intense cravings for sweets or processed carbohydrates that turn to sugar immediately in the system? The kidneys regulate the pancreas, and if you do consume sweets during that period, you may notice low back pain, which is a kidney symptom. The kidneys, bladder and pancreas are all parts of the same whole. If you need a nap early in the evening it is just your pancreas, as directed by your kidneys, putting you out so it can do its repairs.

Blood Vessels and Arteries:
From 9 to 11 p.m. the blood vessels go into repair mode. The impact on the body is: headaches, weakness while vessels are in heavy repair.

Liver and Gallbladder:
Between 11 p.m. to 3 a. m. these two guys go into action. Do you ever have nights when you can’t sleep at this time? This means that waste is not being processed by your liver and it acts as an irritant to your body causing insomnia and frayed nerves. Your brain just won’t stop.

Ayurveda Medicine

Ayurveda is the oldest form of natural medicine and has been practised in India for over 5,000 years.
Its a holistic system that seeks to treat the whole person, by examining -

It seeks to create harmony by balancing the 5 elements from which the entire material world is composed - in the doshas = the bodily 'humours'.
There are 3 forms of dosha - metabolic types

1 Vata = air + ether
2 Pitta = fire + water
3 Kapha = water + earth

Each individual has there own mix of the 3 (prakruti), although most of us have 1 or 2 dominant doshas.

The Kapha Dosha -

Its elements are earth and water,
They are steady and solid by nature and are the heaviest of the 3 doshas.
Provides the body's structure and lubrication.
It controls fluid balance
Governs the production of phlegm and muc
us.
They have well developed bodies.
Vital almost elemental strength
Steady sexual appetite
Thick and lustrous hair and big eyes
They move slowly and calmly and see no reason to rush
The don't like change.

A Kapha imbalance can lead to :

  • Weight gain
